Doug Hendrix
Doug Hendrix has been around for a while. He was the primary singer/songwriter for the Knoteven Brothers in the 70's and early 80's, They were a harmonizing acoustic trio/then duo configuration backed up by some of the finest session pickers alive and enjoyed somewhat of a cult following in Nashville, Tennessee and throughout the South. Doug signed songs with the publishers of several major artists including Kenny Rogers, England Dan and John Ford Coley, Seals and Croft, Ed Bruce, and Delbert McClinton. Unfortunately, the songs were never released on an album and are collecting dust in someone's archives. Classifying Doug Hendrix is like trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. He has always considered himself a writer first and rarely sticks to one genre of music for long, preferring to explore many different styles. While doing the Nashville scene, Doug wrote many Country flavored tunes that weren't quite Country enough for that town. He was constantly told things like, "Man, that sounds like a hit, but I think it's just the way YOU do it!". Well DUH! These days he would fit in well with the likes of Lyle Lovett and Vince Gill ( in fact; Tony Brown, later to be Lyle's first producer at MCA and winner of countless music industry awards, was producing Doug's demos in Nashville in the early 80's. Tony also produced George Strait, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Steve Earle, Trisha Yearwood, Mark Chesnutt, and many others ). Doug was just way before his time. These days, Doug is making his music for himself. He's not trying to conform to anyone's ideal. ~~ENJOY!~ Here's an afterthought while I'm at it: check out my "When I met Chet" story at Misterguitar.com
